Firewood

Our dear missionary friends, and brothers and sisters in faith meet such lonely people, whose pensions are barely enough to buy food, everywhere — in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Yakutsk, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus and even in Estonia. Many of these people have only one worry: "How will we survive the winter?"

But this need also causes people to ask God for help. He often sends His children at the last moment to bring help. A load of firewood or an equivalent amount of coal costs around $150 — $225 CAD; this is enough to heat a family all winter.

Let us bring warmth to these people by supporting our brothers and sisters in faith in the project of the same name. Through this charity, not only will the room become warm, but the ice in the heart will also melt and the ground will be prepared to grow the seed of the Word of God.

Taisia had a good education and was a civil engineer, but her sinful life destroyed everything. Eventually, an acquaintance invited her to church. Through the word of God, she understood that she was a slave.

Everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
John 8:34

But she also heard how she could escape this slavery — not through her own strength, but through Christ.

For you know that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life handed down from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and spotless
1 Peter 1:18-19.

Taisia converted and began a new life. It was not easy at first, because her sinful life had also cost her her home in the city. So she gradually built a simple house in the village. Everyone wondered why one room was bigger than all the others and asked her about it. Taisia's answer was: "God gave everything for me to buy my freedom. This house belongs to Him. My greatest wish is that a church will be founded in this village!"

Since then, this house has been the starting point for evangelism. Sister Taisia is often visited by the youth of the Kharkov congregation, and then they walk through the village together and talk to people about God and sing Christian songs to them. Sometimes she calls and says: "It was so cold again that the water in the well froze. Can you bring me water?" We are happy to drive there and bring the sister water. In winter she has had nothing to heat a few times, so we bring wood for her and other people in need. For the neighbors, this charity is the best testimony of the Christian faith and for the congregation a good opportunity to help others.

How Can I Help?

You can to provide a family with enough firewood to keep their home warm for an entire winter.
